My name is Paula Kearney and I am a CBT therapist with a background in Mindfulness and compassionate coaching. I am also a trained yoga teacher, which I find has helped me make the crucial connection between mind and body, both in my work and in my own life.
These combined disciplines inform my evidence based but sensitive approach, allowing for a productive, warm, and engaging experience for my clients.
I have a range of experience from working in educational settings, firstly as a teacher for over a decade, then in research and most recently as a Head of Wellbeing across a group of schools. I have worked with families in my private therapy work and I have spent time in corporate settings running workshops on topics including compassionate leadership.
I started my higher-level education in Ireland attending UCD and Trinity College Dublin. When I moved to the UK from Ireland I continued my education with postgraduate training in Mindfulness for adults and my Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Treatments at the Charlie Waller Institute, University of Reading. I have worked in the state and private school sectors and have experience of working with young people and parents around issues such as exam stress, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
My mindfulness work at a London academy led to my students being invited to speak at parliament several times about the significant impact that learning the practice of mindfulness had on their mental health and approach to difficulty.
My later work in corporate settings gave me the opportunity to measure baseline wellbeing and use my creativity to produce workshops that improved the personal wellbeing of individuals and their experience of the workplace.
It is important to me that I work from an evidence-based platform but my focus on compassion is central to all that I do. I am a mum, a partner, someone’s family and someone’s friend, and I have my own lived experiences that also inform my work and motivate me to make things better for the people we share this lovely and tricky world with.
I offer a range of one-on-one sessions that focus solely on my customers’ needs. During my sessions, we can deal with a range of personal problems such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, familial problems such as building your children’s’ self-esteem, or work related matters such as compassionate leadership and burnout.
